Announce Your Precious Arrival in Style
Are you due in just a few weeks or has your little one already arrived? Either way, you should start thinking about birth announcements soon.
In fact, we think after you see this collection of cute baby photo announcements and designer thank you cards, you’ll want to get started creating your own right away!
Creating baby photo announcements is as simple as uploading your photo, and then dragging and dropping it into the design of your choice. Online tools let you crop photos, eliminate red-eye, change to black and white or sepia, and rotate photos to get it just the way you want. And if you can’t decide on just one photo, use lots! some of the cutest announcements I’ve seen are collage or mosaic style cards, and show fingers and toes, not just an adorable face.
Designer Baby Photo Announcements
In about five minutes you can create a designer baby photo announcement that will amaze everyone, even yourself. Some of the top stationary designers with signature style include: Petit Alma, Jill Smith, and Hello Little One.
Flat announcement cards run a little bit cheaper, but they are just as sweet and frame-able. Look for high quality cards printed on card stock because you can write on the back if you want to add a personalized note. Flat cards printed on photo paper are not nearly as nice for writing on.
Folded announcements are classic cards. I’m partial to them, even though they cost about 10 cents more, because they stand up on their own, meaning you can display them anywhere.
Photo Cards Printed on Quality Card Stock, NOT Glossy Photo Paper
Photo cards from top retailers are printed on quality card stock, including eco-friendly papers and inks, NOT that glossy photo paper stuff. We’ve ordered cards from most of the big photo card retailers and I can tell you, the paper matters. Card stock has a nicer feel and is better for writing on.
Folded or flat, these cards are keepsakes that your grandparents, friends and loved ones will appreciate receiving.
If you can’t decide on just one photo? No problem, depending on the design you can have 1,2, 4 photos and more. And what’s more, photo cards look like you went to a lot of trouble, but didn’t! In about 10 minutes you can create photo cards or announcements like these.
Tips for Taking for Perfect Baby Photos
As adorable as your little one may be, be prepared to take a lot of photos to get the perfect one for your birth announcement.
- Take pictures at eye level.
- Don’t use a flash. Use natural lighting if possible.
- Change to a high ISO (light sensitivity) setting for indoor shots, like 400 or 800.
- Use a slow shutter speed, like 1/30th second.
- Place camera on a solid surface or tripod.
- Using photo editing software, crop out all other distracting images in the photo except for baby.
- Use all these tips to take close-ups of fingers and toes, arms and legs, not just the face.
